Table types
EasyMap knows different data tables, these are distinguished in the control window data also coloured from each other.
External Data
External data can be imported or linked to EasyMap from various sources (e.g. Excel, Access, text file).
- When Importing external data, EasyMap saves a copy of the data in the EasyMap map folder.
- When Linking external data, EasyMap only establishes a connection to the data source. EasyMap reads the current data when required (for the first time after the link has been established; then each time a map folder is opened and after one of the commands for updating the data has been executed).

Internal data
Internal data is defined as all tables from Queries, work tables and structural data from the territory organization, geographical data of the map bases, and tables with analysis results.
Geographic Data
Geographic data are included in the map bases and are available at any time without import or linking. For all map layers of type area texts, areas and cities a table view of the geographical data can be opened. In this table window the geographical data can be viewed, edited and exported. You can open a geographical data table by double-clicking in control window Data or via control window Contents, command Display table in the context menu of the respective layer.
Geographic data are e.g. area numbers, area names, color, area. The column Subareas indicates the number of subareas that make up an area. This can be used, for example, to check how many non-continuous sections a postal code area, a county or a sales area consists of. The Visible column shows which areas are contained in an island display. The Marked column indicates marked elements.
Analysis Results
An EasyMap analysis is always displayed graphically as a thematic map. In the background, however, EasyMap has determined analysis results (e.g. classified data, calculated totals, determined symbol sizes). EasyMap can also display such analysis results as a table. To open a table of analysis results, right-click in Control window Contents or Analyses on the relevant analysis and select the command Open Results Table from the context menu.
Structural Data
Structural data is used in the EasyMap DistrictManager Edition to store and manage the data on the territory structures. More information on territory structures can be found here.
Note: In all tables with internal data no columns can be deleted and no new columns can be inserted (i.e. no calculations). To open a table with internal data, you can also use the Control window Data or the Data (command Organize) menu.
Note: Further fundamental differences between imported and linked data arise when this data is used as structural data within the framework of a Territory Organization.
