Create

The following tips are intended to help you find a quick and easy introduction to territory planning with EasyMap DistrictManager Edition. Follow these pages to create an initial territory structure based on your own customer data.

First insert brick level

Before you create a new territory structure, you have to insert the areas on any sheet as base maps, which should serve as bricks of the new territory structure. If, for example, you have your customers on a postal code basis and the assignment to the respective field service employee, then you should also insert the postal code area base map on the sheet.

Activate planning mode

The various possibilities for editing and optimizing territory structures are only available in the EasyMap DistrictManager Edition. In order to be able to use these, the planning mode must be activated. So don't forget to switch on the planning mode; see menu Territory organization and Territory organization control window.

Create new territory structure; add locations later

As soon as the planning mode is switched on, the menu territory organization offers the command Create new territory structure. After you have selected this command, EasyMap guides you through the necessary steps with a wizard. Depending on your initial situation, you can now set up everything to either plan a completely new territory structure or enter an existing territory structure. Initially, only the territory hierarchy is created.

Note: Please note that the wizard only contains the steps required to create and initialize the area levels. If Locations are also to be considered, then location levels can be created and the data can be read in after the wizard has been completed; see menu Location organization, command Create locations as well as the corresponding commands in the context menu of the control window Location organization.

Use point layers or customer locations as basic structure

If the description data for the territory structure is available in a different file format (e.g. Excel, database, CRM system), go through the wizard for the command Create new territory structure Step by step. The wizard offers the possibility to read in the available data and to use it for initialization.

Deactivate planning mode after completion of territory planning

When you have finished editing the territory structures, you should switch off the planning mode again. Then there can be no accidental and unnoticed changes in the territorial structures.
