Information for the creator of maps - workbook design in easymap

The map design takes place exclusively in easymap. Maps can be created in easymap explorer must not be changed.

Note: Please note the display differences between easymap and easymap explorer. Not all objects can be used in the same way in the easymap explorer can be displayed. This must be taken into account directly when designing maps in easymap. Display options, which are available in easymap explorer are not supported, should be avoided, because otherwise the view of the workbook in easymap explorer may vary considerably.

Assign meaningful names

For later work with the easymap explorer it is even more important than in easymap itself that you describe the objects meaningfully. Replace standard designations such as "Sheet 3".

In particular, the following objects should be named meaningfully, since the easymap explorer uses their designations:

  • Sheets
  • Analyses
  • Legends
  • Flat levels
  • Tables
  • Queries
  • Column headings in tables and queries

You can rename objects via the control window Contents (context menu command Rename), tables and queries via the control window Data. You can rename columns using the Settings command in the toolbar above the table.

Note: The name of the sheet is given in easymap explorer is used instead of the name of the map for map selection if the hand contains only one map.

Delete unneeded items

For the display in the easymap explorer Objects that are not required (e.g. analyses, tables, sheets, maps) should be removed from the workbook. This makes loading the workbook faster.

Note: Note which other objects are also removed during deletion transfer. Do not delete any objects that would result in the deletion of required objects. In particular, you should avoid deleting individual planar layers.

filtering function

In order to be able to easymap explorer to use the filter function, the function Analysis-Filter must be activated in the corresponding tables or queries.

If the command Ignore filter is activated on an analysis in easymapaut, you can access this analysis in the easymap explorer no filter can be set.

If a filter is already set on a data table in easymape, this filter will be set in easymap explorer is overwritten when you click Apply Filter. The filter expressions of easymap and easymap explorer are not chained. When removing the filter expression in easymap explorer the filter expression defined in easymap is applied again.

Scale ranges - Zoom level

From EasyMap version 10.3 on, easymap uses the automatic zoom function. The zoom levels preset in the digital maps can be used without modification for easymap explorer can be used.

Note: Please note that the digital map for easymap explorer must be converted into another coordinate system. For more information, please read the chapter Display differences between easymap and easymap explorer.
