EasyMap and EasyMap Xplorer

All maps that you publish in EasyMap Xplorer are designed in EasyMap. The design of the workbook is retained as far as possible. However, the following important differences must be considered in order to best prepare a workbook for display in the EasyMap Xplorer.

Sheets and Maps

EasyMap Xplorer only displays content within Maps. All objects that are located outside a map (i.e. directly on a sheet) do not appear in EasyMap Xplorer. Different maps are always displayed separately in EasyMap Xplorer, even if they are on the same sheet in EasyMap. An exception are legends that are located on the sheet (see below): Deviating representation from legends).

Note: If an object is on the sheet, but is to be displayed later in EasyMap Xplorer, move it to a map using Drag&Drop in control window Contents. Alternatively you can insert objects directly into the map (more information in section Contents of maps).

Differences in the map display

Maps must be converted to another coordinate system during publication. The basis for this is that the map has a coordinate system set in EasyMap (readable in the properties of the map, area general/projection). This depends on the base map used.

By the conversion into another coordinate system it can come to different side effects:

  • Changing the displayed map section
  • Changes from Scales (e.g. recognizable by object Scale)
  • Back effect on some analyses (e.g. the raster analysis)
  • Distortions of objects. For example, a circular geometric shape can become an elliptical shape, and positioning shifts can occur.

Restrictions for Some Objects

Some objects cannot be moved in maps in EasyMap and are therefore not available in EasyMap Xplorer (e.g. inset mapn, RTF texts).

Other objects cannot be displayed in EasyMap Xplorer even if you are on a map:

As an alternative you can set a background map like the maps of BingMaps or WebAtlas of BKGThe WebAtlasDE is an Internet map service developed jointly by the Federal Government and the Länder and provided by the Federal Office of Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) .

Deviating representation of legends

legends located on the sheet are displayed in the EasyMap Xplorer in a modified form (in a separate, unzoomed legend area outside the map).

The size with which legends are displayed in EasyMap Xplorer is based on the size of the legend in EasyMap. If several legend elements are used in a map, it is recommended to use the same font size for all legend elements in EasyMap. Since the legend in EasyMap Xplorer is displayed in a separate legend area, it can be positioned anywhere on the sheet in EasyMap.

If a legend is located within one map, it is not additionally displayed in the separate area of the legends. This legend is then part of the base map and is displayed on the map like all other objects.

Analyses

All analyses available in the EasyMap workbook analyses are transferred to the EasyMap Xplorer, regardless of whether they are visible or not.

If you do not want a specific analysis to be offered in EasyMap Xplorer, you can delete this analysis from the workbook delete or set availability for this analysis to no in the Release dialog.

Different character sequence of the layers

Borders and texts of areas are always displayed in EasyMap Xplorer below the analyses (except for area-based analyses), even if they are drawn in EasyMap above the analysis.

Restrictions for base maps

Maps or layers are removed in the following cases and are not available:

Linked data and images

If the data in EasyMap linked, they are embedded into the EasyMap Xplorer in the workbook when released and behave like imported data. Changes in the data only become visible when you upload it again.

Graphics are also embedded in the workbook, even if the setting Embed graphics is not selected.

reports

Reports inserted in EasyMap can also be displayed in Easymap Xplorer. An important difference is the possibility of defining the report access.

Please also note that the output details of the report are not taken into account. The environment is always hidden, a margin is not used and the maximum scale is always used.
