Information for the creator of maps - workbookngestaltung in EasyMap

The maps are designed exclusively in EasyMap. Maps cannot be modified in EasyMap Xplorer.

Note: Please note first the display differences between EasyMap and EasyMap Xplorer. Not all objects can be displayed in the same way in EasyMap Xplorer. This must be taken into account directly when designing the maps in EasyMap. Display options that are not supported in EasyMap Xplorer should be avoided, otherwise the view of the workbook in EasyMap Xplorer may differ considerably.

Assign meaningful names

For the later work with the EasyMap Xplorer it is even more important than in EasyMap itself that you label the objects meaningfully. Replace standard names such as "Page 3".

In particular, the following objects should be described as meaningful, since the EasyMap Xplorer uses their descriptions:

  • Sheets
  • Analyses
  • Legends
  • Flat levels
  • Tables
  • Queries
  • Column headings in tables and queries

You can rename objects via the control window Contents (context menu command Rename), tables and queries via the control window Data. You can rename columns using the Settings command in the toolbar above the table.

Note: The name of the sheet is used in EasyMap Xplorer instead of the name of the map for map selection, if the sheet contains only one map.

Delete unneeded items

Objects that are not required for display in EasyMap Xplorer (such as analyses, tables, sheets, maps) should be removed from the workbook. This makes loading the workbook faster.

Note: Note which other objects are also removed during deletion transfer. Do not delete any objects that would result in the deletion of required objects. In particular, you should avoid deleting individual planar layers.

filtering function

To be able to use the filter function in EasyMap Xplorer, the Analysis filter function must be activated in the corresponding tables or queries.

If the command Ignore filter is activated in EasyMap on an analysis, no filter can be set on this analysis in EasyMap Xplorer.

If a filter is already set to a data table in EasyMap, it will be overwritten in EasyMap Xplorer by clicking on Apply filter. The filter expressions of EasyMap and EasyMap Xplorer are not concatenated. When removing the filter expression in EasyMap Xplorer, the filter expression defined in EasyMap is applied again.

Scale ranges - Zoom level

Starting with EasyMap version 10.3, EasyMap uses the automatic zoom function. The zoom levels preset in the digital maps can be used for EasyMap Xplorer without any changes.

Note: Please note that the digital map for EasyMap Xplorer must be converted to a different coordinate system. Please also read the chapter Differences between EasyMap and EasyMap Xplorer.
